ABOUT US

PaFoSa is a project created by TARS Gallery for the Bangkok Biennial 2020 where TARS will hold an international open-call for a Pavilion.For.Sale, allowing the winning applicant to takeover and exhibit at TARS Pavilion for the duration of BB2020. All applications submitted to PaFoSa will remain visible to the public during BB2020 as a digital documentation on TARS Gallery online platforms and a printed version of each proposal taking the form of a booklet displayed at the TARS Pavilion.

PaFoSa is a hybrid of a biennal(e) pavilion integrated with the commercial services a gallery provides, the project intends to make a statement concerning the commercial realities that revolve around the existence of galleries and art events by transforming the context of a gallery within a biennial(e) and enlarging the dialogue between actors of the territory and understand the intention of those outside it.

PaFoSa international open-call accepts proposals to exhibit at TARS Pavilion for the 2 month duration of BB2020, in which one exhibitor will be selected by a jury and will become part of the TARS Gallery program. All applications submitted to PaFoSa will remain visible to the public during BB2020 as a digital documentation on TARS Gallery online platforms and a printed version of each proposal taking the form of a booklet displayed at the TARS Pavilion.

PaFoSALA

A proposition by Albrecht Pischel with curator Yael Salomonowitz

Bangkok Biennial 2020 (more details TBA)

ALBRECHT PISCHEL

Albrecht Pischel (born in Meißen/East Germany) lives and works in Berlin/Germany.
His conceptual art practice comprises photography, film, installation, ready-mades, sound, and performance and aims at the transgression of boundaries between disparate mediums, genres and cultures.

The often self-referential works playfully reflect on the conditions of the medium in use and the institutional and cultural framework that governs the perception and codes of art and its displays.

In Pischel’s carefully staged anachronisms obsolete technologies experience an unexpected return. At times he incorporates other artists’ works in his projects thus opening up the confines of individual authorship.

YAEL SALOMONOWITZ

Yael Salomonowitz (*1987, Vienna) is a curator, producer and writer based in Paris and Berlin.
With a background in film, theatre and performance art she founded ‘The Performance Agency’ in 2017, a curatorial platform that brings together artists of all fields to enact new performative happenings. Informed by the earliest movements in performance art, The Performance Agency re-approaches the late avant-gardes to conceive new transformative dramaturgies for the 21st century. Upon invitation by Supportico Lopez, The Performance Agency curated the public program of Archivio Conz in Berlin over the past two years, inviting contemporary artists to engage with the material of Francesco Conz’ vast collection and developed one of its signature formats: the Mass.

Since then The Performance Agency has realised a vast number of nomadic projects - moving the audience through churches or along river beds - drawing our attention to the in-between, in a continuous attempt to create immersive experiences accessible to all. Performance programms were previously conceived for Paris Internationale, Art Berlin and KW Berlin. The Performance Agency unites artists from all fields to create performative experiences. It works with innovative live artists who cross the boundaries between fine art, music, dance and performance, exploring the dialogue between these genres.

The Performance Agency has studios in Berlin, Paris, Vienna and Geneva.
